What is it?
We’ve all had those areas of our bodies where we simply can’t lose fat. No matter how much diet and exercise we do, those fat pockets just simply refuse to go away. Now there’s a treatment solution that will help. Tumescent Mini Lipo-Body Sculpting is an advanced technique that will permanently remove the fat deposits in those problem areas.
Your physician will first fill the fatty areas to be removed with a special solution prior to the procedure.
The solution is enhanced with local anesthetic, lidocaine, so it completely numbs the area where the procedure will take place. The benefit of this is that general anesthesia or heavy IV sedation is not required, which means that you don’t have to recover from the anesthesia ‘hangover’. It’s a safer procedure when only local anesthetic is used, and this also allows you to change positions at the physician’s request. The anesthetic lasts approximately 24 hours, which helps to reduce discomfort after the procedure.
The solution also contains epinephrine, which constricts the blood vessels. This is important in reducing bleeding. The fatty deposits are then removed using tiny tubes.
Saline helps to liquefy the fat, making it easier to suction.
Why is it called body sculpture?
This term is appropriate because the physician is actually able to artistically sculpt your body into a shape more pleasing to you.
Is it painful?
We do everything possible to minimize discomfort. You will first be given an oral medication to help you to relax. During the administration of the anesthetic, there is minimal discomfort. Many patients say that the procedure itself is much like having a deep massage.
How much fat can be removed?
Very similar to liposuction, up to four liters of fat can be removed in a single session.
What areas of the body can be treated?
This procedure is largely successful on almost any area of the body where there is fat. For women, common areas include the abdomen, waist, thighs, hips, buttocks, knees, saddlebags and bra fat. For men, common areas treated include the belly, abdomen and breasts.
Will the fat come back?
Fat cells, once removed, do not grow back. However, it is virtually impossible to remove every fat cell during the procedure. Without careful consideration to diet and exercise, the remaining fat cells can expand and cause a bit of weight gain.
What are the risks?
All procedures have certain risks attached. With body sculpting, these risks include the possibility of temporary numbness, bruising and swelling.
