Lasers have been used for many years for a variety of medical cosmetic procedures including treatment of facial and leg veins, age spots and rejuvenating the skin on the face. This advanced technology now allows a gentle beam of light to pass through the skin and be absorbed into the hair follicles. The laser energy, transformed into heat, destroys the hair follicle without affecting the surrounding skin. The process is gentle enough to treat sensitive areas like the face and bikini area as well as large areas like the back, shoulders, arms and legs.

How long does the treatment take?
The procedure can take as little as 10 minutes or up to an hour, depending on the treatment area. Since Laser Hair reduction treats hair during its growth cycle, and hair grows in different cycles, the treatments do have to be repeated to achieve permanent hair reduction.

What can I expect during the Laser Hair Reduction treatment?
Most patients experience little discomfort at the treatment site but the degree of discomfort may vary depending on the individual. A topical anesthesia may also be requested if an individual requests it. The treated area may become pink or red within 30 minutes of treatment. This may last from a few hours to several days and is relieved with the application of ice or cooling gels.

How many treatments will I need?
The number of treatments required depends upon your skin color and coarseness of the hair. Everyone will require at least 2-3 treatments as the process is only effective on hair during the early growing cycle. Repeat sessions will be necessary to treat these follicles when they re-enter the early growth phase.
