Restylane
Restylane
is a safe and natural cosmetic dermal filler used to restore volume and fullness to facial areas effected by wrinkles and folds. It is found naturally throughout your body and plays an important role in giving volume to the skin by binding to the body’s own water molecules.
Restylane (hyaluronic acid) is FDA approved and does not require allergy skin testing before using. Commonly treated areas include smile lines, frown lines, vertical lip lines and shallow acne scars. Restylane lasts about six months.
Hyaluronic Acid
Filler
treatments replenish the skin’s Hyaluronic acid layer. Results are immediate and usually last three to six months. Some key benefits of treatments are smoothing of facial lines and wrinkles, adding definition to lip line borders, smoothing smile lines, decreasing frown lines, improving vertical lip lines and filling shallow acne scars.
Juvederm
Juvederm is an injectible gel made of “cross-linked” hyaluronic acid. “Cross-linking” is the process through which hualuronic acid is made into a gel product that can be injected into the skin for longer lasting results, according to the Juvederm website
How do I know if Hyaluronic acid is safe for me?
Prior to receiving some Hyaluronic acid treatments, patients are skin tested to determine if there is any sensitivity to the implant. The skin test, usually in the forearm, takes less than 5 minutes and ninety-seven percent (97%) of men and women tested can safely be treated with Hyaluronic acid implants.
How is the treatment administered?
Appointments average approximately 60 minutes, depending on the area to be treated. The implant is injected intradermally through a very small needle into the appropriate facial areas. The Hyaluronic acid contains a small amount of anesthetic making the procedure more comfortable, but like any other injection to the face, discomfort is relative to your facial sensitivity. Most patients return to normal activity immediately following the procedure. Ongoing series of customized treatments are as easy and convenient as the first one.
How long do dermal fillers last?
Hyaluronic acid is not permanent, but there is no down time after the treatment and no surgery. Hyaluronic acid is reabsorbed by the body. The rate at which it is reabsorbed varies in each patient. On average, Hyaluronic acid lasts 3-7 months.
