Skincare – Problems, Solutions, Questions, and Answers

My skin is oily. Why do I need to moisturize? And what kind of moisturizer do I use?
For oily skin, a water-based moisturizer will balance your skin. Our skin excretes water and produces oil. Putting water back into your skin balances oily skin.
My skin is so dry! What am I breaking out?
Skin can be dehydrated and that can cause you to break out. The moisturizer you are using is not enough for you – or is the wrong moisturizer.
What is the difference between a Vibradermabrasion and a Microdermabrasion?
A Vibradermabrasion is the latest technology and employs crystal-free exfoliation. Also, the Vibraderm allows the client to have an additional skin treatment immediately afterwards- such as a peel, masque or photofacial.
My face has darker patches and spots that were not there before. Why are they there now?
The skin is the first line of defense for the body. These dark patches or spots can be a result of accumulated sun damage or they could be a result of hormonal changes or imbalances. Damaged cells will multiply more of the same. Professional assistance can determine the causes and can assist in damage control.
What treatments are available for sun-damaged skin?
A photofacial, or IPL or Laser Treatment for the face is a great treatment for the reduction of pigmentation, rosacea and vessels on the face. Also, a bonus with this treatment is the stimulation of Hyaluronic acid. The results are quicker than over the counter skin products for skin lightening and you can’t beat the added Hyaluronic acid. The skin will look younger and smoother in just weeks.
I am using the same products, but my skin has changed. What can I do?
Skin will adapt to products just like hair and as a result, the products will lose effectiveness. A periodic skin evaluation will be beneficial as needs change. Sometimes products need to change seasonally to maintain the best results.
My eyes are puffy and dry. What can I do?

A gel with cucumber extract helps reduce fluid retention and an anti-aging eye cream with vitamins A, C, and E will help combat this problem. The skin in the eye area does not produce moisture so we need to do so topically.

Makeup and Body Products: Make-up Tips

Like the Shimmer Effect?
Here is some information on how to use it to your advantage.
Shimmers enhance the skin as they have light-reflecting properties that draw attention wherever they are placed.
Shimmer can come in powders, creams or liquids.
Shimmers enhance cheekbones!
Shimmer in a bronzer will provide a healthier, brighter glow.
Shimmer in a lipstick or gloss creates the illusion of fuller lips.
Mix your foundation with a shimmer for a dewy, radiant finish.
Like wearing eye makeup but don’t want to look older?
Skin-tone eye shadow choices can make you appear younger.
Don’t use heavy eye makeup – especially if it is not well blended. It will age you.
Use eye cream or gel to moisturize the eye area. Dry eyes age your appearance!
Why use sunscreen when it is in my make-up?
Always use products that protect your skin from the sun.
Also use sunscreen on arms and shoulders while in the car. And on your legs while in a skirt or shorts. Don’t forget your feet!
What is the #1 thing that we can do to prevent aging of the skin?
The #1 anti-aging agent is sunscreen/protection. The sun causes more damage to skin than any other agent for aging. The fall is a great time to address the damage done to the skin during the summer as well as begin treatments to correct or reverse such damage. We can all benefit from a Vibraderm and peel now and then as well as a treatment to stimulate our Hyaluronic acid for fresher, younger looking skin.
